It is Week 6 here in FIFA 1v1 land, and, thanks to a mass of employee World Cup-related sick leave and FIFA 10v10 coaching distractions it is with furrowed brows that we must apologise for a lack of recent updates. A customary glance at the tables indicates some dramatic shifts have occured in the fortunes of some clubs since our last update!
Up in the
Premiership, last seasons' winner
pompey88's Inter Milan currently lead the way, 2 points ahead of
Baring's Barcelona, although the Catalans do have 2 games in hand. Inter's rise up the table can be attributed to having won 5 of their last 6 games, including double victories over perennially tricky opponents
LittleJoe's AC Milan and
RickyDVT's Arsenal.
At the wrong end of the table and currently occupying 12th position is
Sith's Juventus side, who have 3 points after 10 games. Ironically, his only win came against current table-topper Pompey, with a 2-1 home success.
Joining Sith in the relegation places, and also on 3 points is
LittleJoe's AC Milan team. The only points the Rossaneri have picked up thus far was the opening day 3-0 home victory over
Sean_L_99's Liverpool team.
Completing the relegation spots in 10th place sits the aforementioned
RickyDVT's Arsenal outfit. The Gunners have 7 points, and are 2 points from safety as it currently stands.
One tier down and it is remarkable just how close the
Championship is looking at this half way stage in the season. Just 8 points seperates 1st place from 10th place, and it seems likely whichever team can put together a good run of results will end up playing Premiership football next season.
In a remarkable turnaround, it is
PrimeAran's Bayern Munich side who are now top - the pre-season favourite endured a dreadful start but has really bounced back in recent weeks. Currently sitting in the second promotion place, and trailing Bayern only on goal difference is
superstarbeejay's Valencia side, the Spaniards having put together a run of sorts - accruing 7 points from a possible 12 in recent weeks.
Down in the relegation zone and currently 6 points from safety are
Siread's Marseille team, with the French outfit having been on the wrong end of double German defeats to Bayern and Wolfsburg in the past few weeks.
Second from bottom are
Manic Miner's Aston Villa side, although the Villans are perhaps the form side at the bottom - they are unbeaten in their last four matches.
Completing the relegation places is
Tris3d's Atletico Madrid side. The new manager has struggled for form so far in this, his opening season in the rllmuk leagues.
In
League One and sitting 5 points clear at the top is
Rocafella's Fiorentina side. La viola's have however lost twice in their last 6 games, indicating to other promotion hopefuls that they are beatable.
Joining Rocafella in the automatic promotion spots are
ryanski's Napoli side. The Scottish manager has enjoyed good form of late, winning 5 of his last 6 games, including a victory over the aforementioned Fiorentina.
At the wrong end of the table and occupying the relegation places are
Razzle's Bayer Leverkusen (4 points),
SaintM's Southampton (7 points), and
Joffy's Hamburg (9 points).
Razzle's hopes of avoiding the drop suffered a double blow in recent weeks - losing twice to fellow strugglers Southampton in Week 5, and then losing twice again a week later to
scratch's Villarreal side. Joffy will point to his 2 games in hand over his rivals he hopes will help get him out of the relegation mire.
Down in
League Two rllmuk stalwart
Tomox's Wigan Athletic side maintain their grip on top spot, currently leading by 3 points. The Latics haven't had it all their own way in recent weeks, a double defeat to
Pilotwings's Palermo in Week 5 casting shadows over their title aspirations.
Completing an English one-two at the top, it is
Gambit's Fulham side currently in the runners up position, whose steady but unspectacular form has seen them rise steadily up to second place.
At the wrong end of the table, it is currently
Big Gus's FC Koln side propping up the division on 7 points. The Germans have failed to win in 5 games, and need to start picking up points fast to avoid dropping back into the Conference.
In 11th place it is
Harbey's Sunderland side, just a point above FC Koln on 8 points. The Wearsiders' have won just once in 9 games, and will need to get Darren Bent and Kenwyne Jones firing if they hope to avoid the drop.
Occupying the last relegation spot, and 3 points from safety is
JayD's Lazio side on 9 points. The Italians did however win their last match 3-1 (over
Billy Brown's Birmingham), and will be looking to build on that success.
Meanwhile in the lowest professional rllmuk tier; the
Conference it's that man
TommyMAT and his Blackburn Rovers side who still lead the way, only 1 point ahead now from his nearest rival
BedroomBusinessMan's PSV Eindhoven. Both sides have won 5 of their last 6 matches, and will know maintaining such form will likely see them both playing League Two football next term.
At the bottom,
Gingerling's Besiktas side are occupying the lowest spot on the rllmuk ladder with just 1 point from 6 games, although the Turkish side do have a number of games in hand over their nearest rivals.
We are now exactly half-way through this term, and with most teams having 12 games left to play, it will be these matches that will make or break their season. Good luck to all involved, and remember to check back next Monday for your next news update!
